April Fools

Is it any surprise that April Fools Day is celebrated by the Bedford family?  Since we can't be together, we celebrated via text messages...

Carlie: "Hey Family...just thought I'd get it over with and share with you all the kind of exciting news that I'm pregnant!!  Surprise for us but it's meant to be I guess =)"

Mom: "You dog! You got me bad! I just remembered it's April fools. Good one."

Dad: "That is so weird, Marlene is too"

Wesley: "Hey family thought I would share, I don't have cancer, I'm pregnant too"

Kade: "Ha good one Wes.  On an unrelated note, I actually hate Frodo and have renounced my love of Lord of the Rings.  It's a sensitive subject though, so I don't want to talk about it."

Wes: "Me too.  Frodo is too pompous."

Mom: "The truth is I'm the one with cancer."

Garrett: "Hey I'm getting married and actually mom is pregnant."

Dad: "I told Marlene that our neighbors monkey got loose and is in the big tree behind our house.  She is outside looking for it."

Wesley: "Kristen and I are moving back to AZ, and Ed and I are now friends on Facebook."

Maegan: "In the E.R. with 2 kid concussions.  Em & Aaron on the trampoline collided head first.  Ems blacked out for 5ish mins & so we'll be here at least 4 hours."

Carlie: "Out of all the texts...Yours is the only one that I'm questioning and not sure if I can laugh at.  Haha? Or that totally sucks."

Mom (wanted to send, but didn't have her glasses to text): "I actually married Ed already, renounced my love for What About Bob, and Tatum is pregnant"

Garrett: "Last night I put peanut butter on the toilet seat.  This morning I knew my roommate Jace would try to do something to me while I took a shower.  When he came in to dump cold water on me I had a bucket of water that I poured on him."

Dad: "Marlene called her mom about my April Fool's joke and her mom keeps asking what kind of monkey it is."

Carlie: "Hahaha.  A lot of big news today."

A Camera Suprise

We (me, Kade, my dad, Marlene, Maegan, & Garrett) went to visit Wes in California a few weeks ago and while we were there, Garrett snuck this little gem onto my camera while nobody was looking.

Christmas 2011

Can't have a holiday without at least ONE good picture and because Cedar arrived on Dec. 15th, I thought maybe I'd miss the opportunity to catch any good Bedford moments.  Thankfully my dad was able to capture this classic...

Apparently Garrett lost at basketball and I think the rest is pretty self explanatory.

Planking

Definition of Planking: An activity consisting of lying face down in an unusual or incongruous location. The hands must touch the sides of the body and having a photograph of the participant taken and posted on the internet is an integral part of the game. Players compete to find the most unusual and original location in which to play. The term planking refers to mimicking a wooden plank. Rigidity of the body must be maintained to constitute good planking.

In an effort to keep my family up-to-date with the newest fads, I challenged everyone to a planking dual.  I can't think of a better activity for my family than to pose in random places in the most shameful and awkward looking position.

The winner of this competition (we will all vote on our favorite) will get to choose where everyone else has to plank come the next family gathering, which is a large amount of power considering the endless planking options available and the possible embarrassment of public planking.

Cincinnati Bengal

This is the outcome of Kade & Garrett discovering Garage Band on our Mac.  I take no credit for how mean this song is and there was nobody in mind while the lyrics were made, but alas I did take part so I can't be completely excused.

The first rapper is Garrett, then Kade, then Trenton Polley (guest appearance on the Bedford blog) and I am singing the chorus.

The inspiration came from Trent's dad who told Trent that when he was younger there was a saying for girls who had nice bodies, but ugly faces...Cincinatti Bengal's...because their jerseys are cool, but their helmets are ugly.  Kind of the same idea as today's "Butter Face" - everything about her is hot "but her face". 

So yeah...really rude and heartless...but all in fun because again this was not made with anyone in mind and that's why we can get a good laugh about the ridiculousness of it. 

This is not the perfected version and it has a little mess up where we didn't edit out the piano keys banging randomly, but you will at least get the idea of what boredom + Garage Band equals at my house...

For my dad's birthday last year he decided he actually wanted to buy us all BB Guns.  Yes this does seem a little backwards, but we gladly accepted and so begins

Can't Explain It

You know that feeling when you are about to go to bed and you have your retainer in and then you discover your tongue can do a new trick?  Yeah...we do too.  

I found this little gem that we recorded about a year ago and no I can't explain it.

Oh to be together again...

Our family get-togethers have been lacking, but hopefully they will happen more regularly now that Maegan has moved to Tucson! Wesley is still in L.A. and Garrett is finishing up his last year in Idaho, but by some miracle we all ended up together for Memorial Day weekend and it was nice to have the old crew back together.

We may not have had any crazy competitions, but this event was enough to bring about the question "Why do we we do the things we do?"

As usual, Garrett and my dad were the initiators of this terrible idea: Hiking from the top of Mt. Lemmon to Catalina State Park (about a 13 mile hike) in 100 degree weather.

The real question though is how did they get 5 other people to join them?!?  Alright, I will admit that I was a little bummed when my dad ruled out the option of me joining them (being pregnant and all), so I can't judge too harshly.

The hike took them 9 hours to get to the bottom and from what I hear it started off beautifully in the cool and green mountain...

They even took time to stop and appreciate the natural wildlife...

 They had so much energy at this point, Wes and Garrett took a break to poke each other with sticks and wrestle in the rocks and dirt

Garrett just needing to expend some more of his energy that he still had at this point

Then the realization set in that they were actually getting tired and only a few miles in with hours left to go...

The face of the hopeless...

I'm tired just looking at my dad and he is still in the green part of the mountain!

Well they didn't die...and they accomplished more than most can say.  

Way to represent the Bedford, Hanks, Winfield, Rapier names =)

 

After 9 hours of hiking, they all look pretty dang good I'd say.

Oh sleepy Sundays...

 And it can't be a true Bedford get-together if this doesn't happen at least once...Yes we all agreed that the fish hook and biting of the arm were cheap shots, but Wes plays by his own rules apparently
